A limited edition bronze head & shoulders bust of the jockey Lester Piggott by the Irish sculptor Gary Trimble ARHA (1928-1979), signed with initials G.T., numbered No.5, and marked DAF (Dublin Art Foundry), the jockey modelled in racing silks and helmet & cap, rich patina, 39cm. high., 24cm. width, mounted on a cubic white marble plinth set with a brass plaque bearing Lester Piggott's facsimile signature and inscribed BY GARY TRIMBLE, overall height 54cm.Eleven of these these Lester Piggott bronzes were cast. Other known examples from the edition are in the collections of the late Lester Piggott and Vincent O'Brien, whilst another is in the John Magnier Collection.

A pair of riding boots and a race whip originally used by the jockey Frankie Durr,the boots in black & tan leather, inscribed inside F. DURR, very well used; the jockey whip also well used, inscribed in yellow paint F. DURR., (2).Jockey Frankie Durr rode between 1942 and 1978. He enjoyed classic successes with Mon Fils and Roland Gardens in the 2,000 Guineas and with Sodium and Peleid in the St Leger. He also won the Irish Derby on Sodium.

It was the sixth of his eleven career Champion Jockey titles.Big race victories included Warning in the Sussex Stakes and the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, Dowsing in the Haydock Sprint Cup, Tessla in the Fillies' Mile and Magic of Life in the Coronation Stakes. Abroad, Pat also won the Prix du Jockey Club on Hours After.

Hoof of the steeplechaser Mount Prospect's Fortune winner of the Scottish Grand National and other important races between 1907 and 1911,converted as a hallmarked silver-mounted inkwell, the hinged lid inscribed:FROM ROBERT GORE TO P. NELKE ESQ., MOUNT PROSPECT'S FORTUNE 1902-1912, WON, CHAMPION STEEPLECHASE, LIVERPOOL, 1907 [this race was run over the Grand National fences]; GRAND MILITARY GOLD CUP, SANDOWN, 1908; SCOTTISH GRAND NATIONAL, EGLINGTON HUNT, 1909; SANDOWN GRAND ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL STEEPLECHASE 1911; STAKES AMOUNTING TO £2830; sold together with a further horse hoof converted inkwell for a horse called Shamrock who died as a 3-y-o in 1888, with brass fitting, inscription quite rubbed but the inkwell appears to have been used for a racquets competition prize in December 1888, one of the winning players being A.T. Forbes, (2 items).

Racing plate worn by Batt when winning the 1897 Criterion Stakes at Newmarket,mounted with painted back plate in yellow & black in keeping with the Duke of Westminster’s racing colours, inscribed with the race details, some fading and minor paint loss.Batt was a bay colt foaled in 1895 by Sheen out of Vampire (Galopin) and was owned by the Duke of Westminster. He won 5 races from 8 starts including the Houghton S., Criterion S., Doncaster S. & Great Foal S. The colt also finished second in the Derby behind Jeddah, and also runner-up in the Eclipse Stakes.The Criterion Stakes of this time was an important 2-y-o race at Newmarket and won by some famous horses including Ormonde, Flying Fox, Pretty Polly & Gay Crusader. It should not be confused with the G3 event for older horses run on the July Course since 1978 (known as the Van Geest Stakes for some of that time).

The number cloth worn by Altior when winning the 2019 Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase,white lettering applied both sides on a black ground, 1, ALTIOR, BETWAY.This was Altior's second win in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the last of his four consecutive victories at the Cheltenham Festival. The gelding was owned by Mrs Patricia Pugh, trained by Nicky Henderson and ridden by Nico De Boinville and won 21 of his 24 career races.

The number cloth worn by Stradivarius when winning the 2020 Gold Cup at Royal Ascot,gold lettering applied both sides, navy blue ground, 4, ROYAL ASCOT, with racecourse royal crown logo; sold together with the racecard, (2).This was Stradivarius's third Gold Cup win, having won in 2018 and 2019. The horse was owned by Mr Bjorn Nielsen, trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori. He won 20 of his 35 career races.

The number cloth worn by Highfield Princess when winning the 2023 King George Qatar Stakes at Glorious Goodwood,applied with white lettering either side, on a maroon ground, 6, and on a Velcro attachment QATAR.Sprinting sensation Highfield Princess graduated from a handicapper to win 14 races including 4 at G1 level, the Prix de l'Abbaye, Nunthorpe, Prix Maurice de Gheest and Flying Five Stakes. The King George Qatar Stakes was her last win in England.

Watercolour by Harry Bingham Neilson (British, 1861-1941) of the great steeplechaser Golden Miller,signed and titled, traces of pencil, head and shoulders portrait, 28 by 23.5cm., framed & glazed, overall, 31 by 26cm., good condition.H.B. Neilson was chiefly an illustrator for children's books. His most notable works were Mr Fox's Hunt Breakfast on Xmas Day (1897) and the Fox's Frolic (1917). Neilson was a keen horse rider. This would be one of his later works and would date to circa 1934, the year Golden Miller won the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National in the same season.

Patterson Gallery exhibition catalogue “The Equestrian World of Barrie Linklater”, this painting of Desert Orchid featuring on the front cover, (3).Barrie Linklater's essay included in this lot reads: “Desert Orchid has been painted many times in racing situations so I felt it would be good to portray him away from those associations, without saddle or tack, galloping free, in an open landscape. I decided upon the effect of a strong overhead light to emphasise his powerful form and action, complimented by the dark thundery sky, which allows him to dominate the scene. As a preparation for this painting I was permitted to see Desert Orchid at David Elsworth's stables and observe him in action on the gallops.”

An oil painting by Alfred Charles Havell (British, 1855-1928) of Victor Wild with Mornington Cannon up, winners of the Coronation Cup at Kempton Park 26th June 1897, signed and titled, oil on canvas, inscribed with horse's name & pedigree and the date of the race on the inner gilt-frame, also applied with a small lock of hair of Victor Wild tied with ribbon in the racing colours of the owner Tom Worton, deep outer-gilt frame, glazed, the canvas 24 by 30cm., overall 39 by 44.5cm., good condition.Victor Wild was a course specialist at Kempton Park and in addition to the Coronation Cup win, won back-to-back Jubilee Stakes in 1895 and 1896. The colt also won the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot in 1894. The horse was trained by Joe Cannon at the Waltham House/Lethorne Stables in Lambourn.
